In 2019, we applied for a grant from the Environmental Trust Fund (ETF) to prepare a Climate Change Adaption Plan for the Village of Gagetown. We were notified earlier this year that our application was successful. We will be preparing a plan that will help guide the Village in its efforts to make our community more resilient in facing climate change. Our plan will be focused on what we need to do to protect our critical infrastructure from extreme weather events such as flooding and intense thunderstorms.
We have hired Stantec Consulting to lead us through the development of our plan. One of the first steps in the process is to put together a steering committee. The committee will represent several different stakeholders in the Village, from operations to planning, from emergency services to economic development.
In the near future there will be several opportunities for the general public to have input into our plan. We want to hear what you feel is the most important thing to consider when preparing our community for the effects of climate change. Stay tuned to the website for further information about when and where.
