Gagetown School

Gagetown School is a K-8 community school nestled on the banks of the St. John River. The school has a wide-ranging catchment area that includes the communities of Swan Creek, Upper Gagetown, Coytown, Hampstead, Upper Hampstead, Central Hampstead and the Village of Gagetown.

Gagetown School combines the close-knit feel of a rural school with cutting-edge technology and a diversity of programs. The school boasts a computer lab, an equal number of laptops, in-class SamrtBoards and high-speed wireless. Students have access to a fully-stocked library, a gymnasium with a spacious stage, and a variety of extracurricular activities. The local rink provides ice time for the Gagetown Eagles hockey team and school skating excursions. The school also has a dedicated elementary playground, a canteen and special lunches twice a week.

In the past few years, Gagetown School has mounted elementary and middle school productions and won awards at both the district and provincial music and drama festivals. Chess players from the school have placed in the top three at the District 17 Middle School Chess Competition. Elementary studtnts have also competed in the district Science Olympics and Gagetown students have shone at the district Middle Level Oratorical Competition.

In addition to regular teaching staff, Gagetown School has a full complement of teaching assistants and an on-site resource teacher. Teachers traditionally know every student in the school by name.

Gagetown is also a community school - host to cadets, dance programs, brownies and girlguides, evening sports and special events. Built in 1961, Gagetown School has maintained its commitment to students and the community for over 45 years, and is still going strong.
